It was a “direct-ascent, kinetic kill” weapon.

Isro to launch 5 military satellites this year to boost ‘strategic assets in space’

Isro is scheduled to launch four new series Risat satellites and an advanced Cartosat-3 satellite. Cartosat-3 is the advanced version with the capability to zoom up to a resolution of 0.2 metre (20 cm), Sivan said Risat-2BR1 will be launched in July, Risat-2BR2 in October and Risat-1A in November. Risat-2B series is a lighter version of the spy satellite with an X-band synethic aperture radar that can penetrate clouds and zoom up to a resolution of 1 metre.

First lot of Dhanush guns handed over to Indian Army

The first six of the 114 ‘Dhanush’ guns ordered by the Army were handed over by the Gun Carriage Factory, Jabalpur on Monday. Developed jointly with the Army, received bulk production clearance in February and the initial order of 114 guns was placed. Significant contributions were made by DRDO, public sector units such as SAIL and BEL and several private sector firms.

Access to ISRO’s technology

New space company to facilitate Isro tech transfer to industry. Till now, ISRO had to directly engage with private companies and oversee the entire process of technology transfer. The new company will be set up under Department of Space and will be based in Bangalore. This new company will be different from Antrix, Isro’s commercial arm, as the latter is only involved in commercial launches of foreign satellites.
